The properties that must be owned by the geotextile as a protective layer are puncture strength (Puncture Strength). The geotextile will repair broken broken stones, wooden posts, roots and other compilations stretched out in the field. Besides the dynamic force which consists of drop or collision material, the geotextile also changes the puncture force.
Soil improvement techniques using geosynthetics are:
- Use of non woven geotextile as a layer of separation. So that the embankment soil is not mixed with poor subgrade which occurs due to the effect of pumping on the soil.
- Use of woven geotextile as a layer of separation and stabilization. In addition to the main function as a separation of woven geotextile it also functions as a stabilization of soil which can increase the carrying capacity of the soil. Woven geotextile has a high tensile strength compared to non woven geotextile so that it can increase the carrying capacity of the subgrade.
- Use of geocomposite as a layer of separation and stabilization. The advantages of geocomposite with woven geotextile, which in addition to having high tensile strength that can increase the carrying capacity of the soil, also have a high prick strength. This material is suitable for use in road construction with granular deposits.
